Significance of Even-oddness of a Prime's Penultimate Digit

چکیده

The beauty of these relationships is that, by inspection alone, one may instantly observe whether or not a prime number is = 1, or = 3 (mod 4). These relationships are especially valuable for very large prime numbers-such as the larger Mersenne primes. Thus, it is seen from inspection of the penultimate digits of the Mersenne primes, as given in [1 ] , that all of the given primes are = 3 (mod 4). This holds true for all Mersenne primes, however large they may be, for, by adding and subtracting 4 from Mp= 2 1 and re-arranging, we have Mp 2 1+4-4 = 2 -4 + 3 4(2"1)+3 3 (mod 4).

Providing a sensory basis for models of visual information acquisition.

Our major goal is to account for some simple digit-recall data with a theory that integrates two models from two scientific traditions. The random-sampling model, founded in the memory and attention literature, holds that (1) stimulus features are randomly sampled throughout the course of stimulus presence and (2) proportion correct recall is equal to the ratio of sampled features to total feat...

Percutaneous Release of Trigger Fingers: Comparing Multiple Digits with Single Digit Involvement

Background: To evaluate safety and efficacy of percutaneous release of trigger finger in multiple digits involvement in comparison with  single digit involvement.   Method: A number of 100 patients (131 fingers) were treated by percutaneous release and divided into two groups: single digit (group A) and multiple digits (group B). They were followed up for one year. Success rate, pain, complic...

The Effect of Water Stress on Remobilization of Pre-anthesis Stored Assimilates to Grains in Wheat

Abstract Five bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) cultivars including Kavir, Pishtaz, Niknejad, Omid and Roshan were evaluated in a split plot experiment based on randomized complete block design with three replications. Water stress and well-watered conditions were assigned to the main plots and varieties to the subplots. Water stress was imposed by withholding irrigation at the booting stage....

Weak oddness as an approximation of oddness and resistance in cubic graphs

We introduce weak oddness ωw, a new measure of uncolourability of cubic graphs, defined as the least number of odd components in an even factor. For every bridgeless cubic graph G, %(G) ≤ ωw(G) ≤ ω(G), where %(G) denotes the resistance of G and ω(G) denotes the oddness of G, so this new measure is an approximation of both oddness and resistance. We demonstrate that there are graphs G satisfying...

On the smallest snarks with oddness 4 and connectivity 2

A snark is a bridgeless cubic graph which is not 3-edge-colourable. The oddness of a bridgeless cubic graph is the minimum number of odd components in any 2factor of the graph. Lukot’ka, Mácajová, Mazák and Škoviera showed in [Electron. J. Combin. 22 (2015)] that the smallest snark with oddness 4 has 28 vertices and remarked and that there are exactly two such graphs of that order. However, thi...
